I used a sunny Sunday in the center of Düsseldorf, the town where I am born, to experiment / test with the Fujinon XF 35mm f1.4 R lens on my Fujifilm X-PRO3 Black. To have no doubts, to me one of the best lenses of Fujifilm. Highest IQ, great color rendering and great resolution.
Another day I had a discussion on FB with a young photographer that reacted on to one of my pictures made with the Fujinon XF 35mm f1.4 R. He wrote that he does not understand that Fujinon is still selling this “very” old lens. (The Fujinon XF 35mm f1.4 R lens has been the first lens in 2012 launched together with the Fujifilm X-PRO1.) For a moment I have been speechless. 10 years is no age to a lens design. If I look to the new Fujinon XF 33mm f1.4 WR this lens has a great IQ too and is even weather sealed but it is bigger and more heavy and on the pictures I have seen so far, I am missing some character. The results are just perfect with out any edges, boring. To be clear, I love so much the results of the Fujinon XF 35mm f1.4 R lens. I guess the millennials are so much used to get every year a new generation of iPhone or other smart phone, that they consider 10 year “young” lenses as old stuff and are looking for new gadgets. Sorry, I am a boomer and I am used to lenses that will last a men’s life and even longer.
I would really love to know you pov to that topic. Enjoy the pictures and please leave me a comment.
