The NEW 7Artisans AF 35mm f1.8 LITE lens just arrived for a review

Just in time for the traditional carnival season in Düsseldorf the NEW 7Artisans AF 35mm f1.8 LITE lens arrived. 35mm (52.5mm Full Frame) is a focal length that is close to the human visual field. Since the beginning of my passion for photography the 50mm FF lens has been all time my favorite focal length. You can use it for portrait, street, travel and with some flexibility and sneakers even for landscape photography.

I am looking forward to my test shooting during carnival this coming long week-end please stay tuned.

  1. Hi,
Just got my 35mm lite lens from 7Artisans. Great lens. Good solid feel. Great sharpness. Overall, looking good. Just have found one flaw though, the shutterblades. They are very noise. When you have the camera on one of the auto settings, auto ISO or auto shutterspeed, you noticeably are hearing the adjusting of the blades when even slightly moving the camera. Once you hear it, it becomes very annoying. Especially at a low noise environment like indoors.
Curious to know if your lens has the same issue.
    Cheers,
    Hans

    1. Hello Hans,
Congratulations to your new Lens. You are right it´s a great lens. 7Artisans has done a very good job.

The noise of the diaphragm blades can also be noticed on my copy of the lens. My impression is that the noise of the blades movement improved after I updated the lens to firmware V1.5.

What firmware version is installed on your lens?

      Greetings,
      Malte

  2. Hallo Malte,

nice to see you now finally have the 7artisan , as we spoke at the Fuji X-Den.
I hope to see the 25 too. But we are 50mm guys, thats more important.
Let’s meet with Susan at wednesday.
    Greetings,
    Joachim

    1. Hello Joachim,

Welcome on my blog. I first received the 7Artisans AF 35mm f1.8 lite. The 25mm and 50mm will follow after the Chinese new year next week.

I will bring the lens with me to the X-DEN presentation of Susan on Wednesday so you can get your hands on.

      See you soon. Greetings,
      Malte

      1. Hello Malte,
that’s really kind and i think the size fits very well on your x-pro3.
It really invites me with this size to grab a camera and go out. That’s why i like the old 35 1.4 a lot.
X-Pro needs small lenses. Something Fujifilm should consider more as a priority, bring more small lenses.
Looking forward to see you and hear what Susan will present at wednesday.
        Best regards ,
        Joachim

  3. Good morning,

it was a pleasure to meet you and greet. Susan was great. I think she is talented.
Thanks for letting me test the 35 1.8 . It’s convincingly good. My pictures were sharp and i liked the bokeh.
And of course the af works well. It ‘s a steal. Highly recommended it, and i am curious about your next 25 1.8 !
One thing what is the mfd 35cm ? I think here the 25 has this advantage for closer imaging.
    Best regards, Joachim
