Carnival in Düsseldorf with the NEW 7Artisans AF 35mm f1.8 on Fujifilm X-PRO3
Introduction
Next to the famous „Rosenmontags Zug“ in Düsseldorf, there is another great carnival event the „KÖ Karneval“ on Sunday. The big difference between those two is the fact that the Rosenmontags Zug highly commercial and sponsored by the industry is and the Kö Karneval 100% homemade is.
That is the reason why I am, since many years, a great fan of this Sunday carnival. I love the self-made costumes, the handmade trolleys and mix of carnival music. Additionally, the people, young and old, are bringing food, drinks and confetti. Such a wonderful family event.
Lens Test
A perfect moment to test the NEW 7Artisans AF 35mm f1.8 lens on my Fujifilm X-PRO3. All Images I took at aperture f1.8 to test the performance of this compact and light lens wide open. 35mm (52.5mm full frame) is a good focal length for shooting portraits and even complete groups. I was so lucky that this year the sun was shining Sunday at the KÖ. The Fujifilm Velvia film simulation enhanced the colors in this difficult sun and shade situation.
I am impressed of the IQ, resolution and contrasts performance of the NEW 7Artisans AF 35mm f1.8 lens. The lens is rendering the images with a strong sense of depth. It seems the people are jumping out of the image like it is known of real 3D images. This is a real Character Lens.
I have been since some years a big fanboy of the 7Artisans 35mm f1.4 APS-C lens on my Fujifilm cameras. Both are compact lenses with Character and a great IQ for a Budget price. The same high level has the build quality and the chosen materials. Additional I experienced on this NEW 7Artisans AF 35mm f1.8 lens a fast autofocus that jumps straight to focus. During this carnival shooting, where I used Face and Eye detection mode on the Fujifilm X-PRO3, the performance has been stunning. On 270 pictures I took, only 2 have been out of focus. I used single focus and each picture has been separated focused. Dear 7Artisans Design Team, you made a great job developing this modern lens. I am looking forward to find soon the same performance on the brother and sister of this lens the AF 25mm and 50mm f1.8.
Please have a close look to the colorful images and I am happy if you leave your thoughts and opinion.
