The 7Artisans 50mm f1.8 lens can be ordered at the 7Artisans Shop for 73.80$ including shipment. This is a real budget price. I paid for my Fujifilm X-PRO3 Black 2200$ one year ago, to me a great value to the price ratio in respect to the performance of that body.
After many years working with Nikon Professional DSLS like the D3 or D4 I am so happy to work and carry a such light weight camera like the Fujifilm X-PRO3 with me around and to me even getting a much higher image quality and resolution. I got the wonderfull Fujinon XF 56mm f1.2 lens but I enjoy using the manual 7Artisans like the 35mm f1.2 MKI. This lens is wonderful compact and got the retro style look and touch of the 60th and 70th. Since the 7Artisans 35mm f1.4 APSC is available it is my new always on lens as the mechanics of this lens is on a higher level than the f1.2 version.
Some times 35mm is not long enough. You want to condense the space in the image even more as you can do with a 50mm lens. At the same time I want to keep my gear compact as possible. To support my credo I decided to try the simple 7Artisans 50mm f1.8 lens. Of course f1.8 is much more closed compared to the f1.2 on the Fujinon and the bokeh will be less exciting but it´s worth a try.
Does this make sense? Such an high end body and such a budget friendly lens. Does this lens support the high image quality of the stunning Fujifilm X-PRO3? A lot of questions that has been in my mind. During a short trip to Hamburg harbor I used the camera and lens combination. The results you can see below. To this point, I am surprised how well this lens is performing even wide open. But as usual please make up your own mind.
