Vignetting on the NEW 7Artisans 25mm f1.8 and tries to solve this…
For the moment, I am testing the NEW 7Artisans AF 25-35-50mm f1.8 Lite lenses on my Fujifilm camera. The 7Artisans AF 35mm f1.8 Lite, I used for carnival in Düsseldorf, has proven an excellent IQ and performance. Also, the 50mm Lite lens has given great results but needs further testing. The 7Artisans AF 25mm f1.8 Lite lens is giving problems. Wide open at aperture f1.8 strong vignetting is visible all 4 corners of the image. Most visible is this optical phenomenon if you shoot directly the blue sky. At pictures with a lot of details, as clouds, trees, city landscape or simple street photography this is not visible very much. Those pictures were made with the tulip shaped kit lens hood and without the vignetting improved but not to 100%. Also, I had to notice that the contrast of the images has been lower without lens hood. I ordered a metal wide angle vented metal lens hood with diameter 58mm and using this gave the best results even so at f1.8 some vignetting is still visible. As soon you stop down to f2.8 and lower the vignetting is gone.
I have contacted 7Artisans to find out, is this a standard optical fault on this lens as a trade off to the extreme compact design and budget price or is it a bad copy of the lens, I have received. I keep you updated on the feedback of 7Artisans support team.
