Summary of all Leica Lens emulations provided in the Leica Lux App
The Leica Lux App is offering lens, film emulsion and photo paper emulations.
For pictures made with the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max 24mm ƒ/1.78 fusion lens with RAW 48 megapixels resolution and developed 12 megapixels the following lens emulations are available.
Wide angle SUMMILUX 28MM F1.4 ASPH., moderate wide angle SUMMILUX 35MM F1.4 ASPH., standard lens NOCTILUX 50MM F1.2 ASPH. and iconic LEICA I MODEL A 50MM F3.5 which also allows only black and white images. With these emulations you can choose the virtual aperture openings you want to use. The software will add taccording to the chosen aperture, bokeh and blur to the image. Compared to the first Portrait Mode function of Apple iOS from 4 years ago, this result today looks phantastic.
The film emulsion and photo paper emulation filter called “Leica Look” are the following:
STANDARD, VIVID, NATURAL, CHROME, CLASSIC, CONTAMPORARY, ETERNAL, BRASS, TEAL, BW NATURAL, BW HIGH CONTRAST, MODEL A, BLUE, SELENIUM, SEPIA.
Each filter can be filled in between 1 and 100%.
I have chosen a picture of my last photo session of the Old Timer and was able to convert this image in all the different emulations. Impressive, you can take a photo and afterwards you can change the focal length and aperture setting to what you need.
Please have a close look to all the different images; to simplify the identification of the used emulations, I added to pictures the Leica Frame with all details.
My verdict, Leica ported the outstanding in camera processing of film emulation filter, I love so much at the Fujifilm Cameras as my X-PRO3, to the iPhone. (It would be clever if Fujifilm would provide their own iPhone camera App with their original film emulations filter.)
The easiness of close to zero reduced “photoshop” time, I enjoy so much on my X-PRO3, has reached the iPhone Photography. All this without having to accept loss of quality. To me the 4th photographical revolution.
