The NEW 7Artisans 50mm f1.2 lens just arrived for a deep review

5 minutes ago, FedEx delivered the NEW 7Artisans 50mm f1.2 lens for a detailed review. Just in time for the wonderful Christmas season in Germany with all their traditional Christmas markets in the center of the cities. A Glühwein (hot wine with herbs) and some cookies in the evening, everywhere Christmas music playing and the people are in a friendly mood and enjoy life. A perfect scenario to test the wide open 7Artisans 50mm f1.2 lens. How does the lens render mild colors of the candlelight and what kind of bokeh will it produce.

One big and very positive surprise I had already, the lens has a build in metal retractable lens hood. I already had ordered a 55mm diameter lens hood on Amazon but that one I will return now.

All in all, this lens is making a very ridged impression. Full metal, clickable aperture ring (something unique to 7Artisans lenses!) and the focus ring is extremely well damped running. I can´t wait to do the first test shots.

The first impression of the NEW 7Artisans 50mm f1.2 is very well! More will come soon.

  1. Hi Malte,
    thanks for the extensive review of the 7artisans 50mmf1.2, you mentioned an upcoming review against ttartisan 50mmf1.2, I wanted to get this lens as I find it more appealing for me. I wanted to know for the sharpness, which one of them is better. Thanks.

    1. Hello Mohamed,

      I am so happy that someone is reading what I am writing and testing (-;

      I got so many new lenses for testing lately that I am a bit behind. The comparision will come within the next two monthes.

      The NEW 7Artisans 50mm f1.2 is much better optically corrected than the TTArtisan 50mm f1.2 which is more compact and lighter. From the point of sharpness are both lenses in the center at a high level even at f1.2 but the performance in the corners is much better with the new 7Artisans lens. The real big difference is, that the TTArtisan 50mm f1.2 has wide open color fringes, as you can see on the sample picture I will add a link to here. Sample Picture TTArtisan 50mm f1.2

      In a nut shall, I prefer the 7Artisans 50mm f1.2 to the TTArtisan 50mm f1.2 but this is only based on my point of view and impression.

      Please let me know your findings with the lens of your choice.

      Kind regards,
      Malte
