Photography it is like dining. You can’t have foie gras, oysters, truffle and caviar with Champagne every day. Much to heavy and after a while you loose the connection to reality and even can get bored.
The same can happen if you use day in and out e.g. the stunning Firefly lenses from 7Artisans best IQ, robust and precise all metal mechanics and extreme low light performance but this advantages are paid with size and weight.
We need from time to time some simple Spaghetti aglio e olio or a hot cheesy pizza together with a draft beer or just a cold glass of pure water. This will help us to set the right priorities and find back our balance in life.
Using the 7Artisans 35mm f1.4 APSC on my Fujifilm X-PRO3 Black is an alternative to the Fireflies. Great IQ a decent opening of f1.4 but less then half of the weight and compact. It’s fun to walk through the streets and capture the daily life of the people. All this with a weight that makes you still smile after running around and shooting with your gear after a full day.
The 7Artisans 25mm F1.8 is an other option for all those that prefer a little wider image angle to the 35mm. In situations when there are a lot if people or you want to capture more of the scenery without too much of distortions the 25mm lens is my first choice. The 7artisans 25mm f1.8 is small and compact, yes compared to the Fireflies the IQ is at the borders limited but still good enough for street and landscape photography. Also this small footprint matches wonderful with the Fujifilm X-PRO3. People will just ignore you with your “small” equipment and continue to act their normal daily live and you can ban a lot of emotions on your sensor and finally on your memory card. I combined the lens with a light metal wide angle vented lens hood to improve the contrast in sunny situations and to protect the lens.
With those two product pictures below, I love the nice and premium packaging of 7Artisans, I have added from my last shooting some pictures so you can have a look your self of the quality. As said it is not perfect but for a daily use its delivering the right IQ you need. Too me that way I also kept hungry to use the Fireflies for critical low light situations or when the best IQ is required.
