Raketenstation Hombroich

The „Raketenstation Hombroich“ is today a museum area in the neighborhood of Holzheim / Stadt Neuss. The museum area is owned by the „Stiftung Insel Hombroich“. In the past, the Belgium Nato division has been operating a rocket launch station at this location.

There are all different kind of buildings on this museum area, as artist are working and living here. You can walk in between housings, ateliers and art (installations and exhibition halls). During my visit I even met an artist, and we discussed various topics up to politics. This is a location I have never seen before. The day I visited has been very silent. Enjoy some pictures I made during two visits on a cloudy and a sunny day. The weather is changing the expression even the meaning of some pictures. There are more details on the pictures taken during cloudy weather and wonderful warm color tone with strong contrasts in the sunlight, even so I tried to avoid bright midday sun as this light is for my photographer taste awful.  Same effect can be seen between color and black and white images. In this review I have converted, using the LeicaLuxApp converting tools, some color images to Black and White. The conversion filter I used is named Leica 1A, a simulation of the first build 35mm Leica Camera (1925 – 1935). The most important criteria found on those images is a strong contrast with lower resolution. The appearance of the images remembers to the Ilford HP5 film emulsion pushed from 400 ASA to 800-1600 ASA. My favorite film I used a lot starting 45 years ago. I would be very happy if you leave your point of view on this matter in the comments.

As a summery to me, it is phenomenal what can be done with a simple iPhone 16 Pro Max and the LeicaLuxApp. I am missing less and less my heavy camera gear. Today I have my “high-end” Camera always with me along during all day. In cases I plan to take a serious of images I even mount my Fjorden Grip on the iPhone which gives a nearly DSLR feeling to my iPhone and the feel and touch of a real two step release button.
