Portrait session with the Samyang 85mm f1.4 AS IF UMC on Fujifilm X-PRO3
Not many things are more interesting than shooting portraits. I am not talking about a portrait you want to use for your CV or even worse for your passport. To me a portrait is a mirror to the soul. It´s not just a copy of your counterfy but a study of your personality and character.
The way to shoot that portraits is to take your time. At the beginning the person to take the portrait off does not feel comfortable. You need to get the person out of it´s comfort zone. That is the moment to shoot and record the character. Next to the imaging process the choice of the right film simulation and the decision between a color or black & white portrait will emphasize the character.
I want to give you the opportunity to judge yourself which is the best setting.
The Samyang 85mm f1.4 AS IF UMC is a perfect lens to produce impressive portraits as a character study. The focal length of 85mm – 127.5mm full frame is such a great lense to shoot portraits. Next to the right framing does a bit longer distance to the person in focus, help the person to let loose. The creamy and soft bokeh the Samyang 85mm f1.4 AS IF UMC is producing with 8 diaphragm blades is very impressive.
Please leave me some feedback to the results of this shooting.
