Zeche Zollverein seen through the new 7Artisans AF 25mm f1.8 Lite lens
Introduction
Next to the Landschaftspark Duisburg, a historical steel factory, is the Zeche Zollverein which has been a famous Cole mine, my most loved places to photograph and to test all kind of lenses. The details of old steal, machines and nature that is fighting back their space in these historical places is amazing to image.
It has been a wonderful sunny day with a clear and shiny sky.
Vignetting
For my lens tests I took many of the images wide open at f1.8 and as a comparison also at f8. To my big surprise I had to notice at f1.8 and even f2 that there is vignetting showing up. Best to be seen in the images with blue sky. I guess the reason might be the tulip shaped lens hood. For all three Lite lenses 25 – 35 – 50mm, 7Artisans is offering the same lens hood. I will make this week-end a test shooting without hood at f1.8, Also I have ordered a universal wide vented metal lens hood for testing.
Image IQ
For the rest I am surprised of the great image quality at f1.8. When I tested the lens at the window with f1.8 – 2.8 – 5.6 – 8 I had expected that the best image IQ and details are give at f8. I noticed, based on the file size, that the highest resolution and details are recorded at f2.8. I need to use the lens on my test chart to verify this finding.
This has been a very good start of this testing marathon with the new 7Artisans Lite autofocus lenses. Soon more results and findings will follow.
